Meet Roger

Roger Revak knows adversity, the gift of laughter and the power of appreciation. Roger has faced many challenges in his life including growing up with an alcoholic father. Roger was laid off from a blue-collar job the same month his daughter was born.

He began college at age 30 and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a double major. By the time he was 40, he was divorced and survived a life-threatening brain tumor operation, with no permanent damage (that he admits to!).

Through the ups and downs, there have been three constants:

1. A deep appreciation for life and people who help people.

2. A strong sense of determination.

3. An even stronger sense of humor.

Roger wasn't looking for his life purpose when he joined Toastmasters International, but his purpose found him. Every year Toastmasters holds four contests in the state of Minnesota (District 6). In 2005, Roger placed in the top three in all four contests. No one else in Minnesota has ever done this.

Roger is strong believer in continuing education. He has attended six training sessions in the last two years with Patricia Fripp (one of the best speech coaches in the world), Craig Valentine (Toastmasters 1999 World Champion) and Darren LaCroix (Toastmasters 2001 World Champion).

Roger is not an expert or a hero. He is just a regular guy who lives a normal life. He lives a normal life because of heroes: people who serve people.
